After celebrating our ACE Awards win on Thursday, SDS were excited to attend the Constructing Excellence South West Awards 2021 ceremony on Friday. Hosted at the Bristol Marriott Hotel City Centre, it was a fantastic night and members of our team were pleased to be celebrating in real life.
Already on a high, we were boosted to cloud nine after winning the ‘SME of the Year’ award for the South West. We are now through to the national awards against other regional winners.
SDS were praised for maintaining our market position, exceeding our £5m turnover target for 2020/21, practicing efficient collaboration across the business and our commitment to decarbonisation.
Not only was our business recognised on the night, but it was a great privilege to see many of our projects celebrated.
Our James Laughlin and John Bradbury were delighted to be part of the team who worked on the NHS Nightingale Hospital, Exeter which was awarded ‘Building Project of the Year’. View our project video here.
One of our other projects, the Fleet Helicopter Support Unit, was also highly commended for ‘Integration and Collaborative Working’ which applauds effective partnerships within the industry. Additionally shortlisted in this category was Polden Bower SEN School, which achieved exemplary commitment from all parties involved.
Also under this category, as well as the ‘Digital Award’, was the Future Plymouth 2030 Webinar Series – an educational programme to take action in reducing carbon in the built environment/construction industry, for which our own Kate Fry presented for. Another of our shortlisted projects for the ‘Digital Award’ was the Institute of Technology at Exeter College (Digital & Data Centre), offering state-of-the-art modern facilities and open to the 2020 intake of students despite the pandemic.
