Inspiring the next generation of Engineers!
18th Oct, 2019
It was great to be back in the wonderful Atrium Studio School, to support their Halloween themed ‘Oktoberfest’!
The school mission’s is to prepare students for successful, fulfilling careers in the Built Environment and Creative industries (Architecture, Surveying & Planning, Engineering, Town Planning, Ecology, Design, Photography and Media).
‘Oktoberfest’ enables young people the opportunity to meet their employers of the future and to connect with some of the area’s leading businesses, who are partners of Atrium.
Sergio, Katherine and Jorden enjoyed meeting the students, hearing about what they aspired to be and the subjects they are currently studying. They were able to try out our VR Experience and take a look around the building services design of a school and hospital.
SDS has strong connections with the school, including undertaking the detailed design of the mechanical and electrical services and welcoming students for work experience across the network of offices.
Mechanical engineer, Jorden commented: “It’s been great to visit the school and see it in full action. Atrium’s strength in creativity and STEM subjects is inspiring and I wish I had had the same opportunity when I was a secondary school student.”
Sarah Hunter of Atrium Studio School commented “It was great seeing the reactions when people had the VR headset on! It is so important for our students to get that first hand experience, whether through chatting to an employer or via a placement, so they can learn about the huge variety of careers on offer within the Built
Environment sector. Thanks again for taking the time to attend
this event and for all the support that SDS continues to offer our
students – we really appreciate it!”
