Kicking off our 2020 CSR activities

17th Jan, 2020

On Wednesday, members of the SDS Plymouth team joined Plymouth Foodbank to help in their donation and distribution centre.

Following an influx of donations from the public over the Christmas period, the centre was struggling with storing perishable food items. The SDS team stepped in to help with sorting the items into ‘food type’ and ‘date’ to ensure they were able to use as much of the donations as possible before they passed their use-by-date.

Senior Branch Administrator, Jacqui, commented “It was great to be able to step-in and support the foodbank with such a simple task, that will ensure they maximise the support they receive. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and finding out more about the charity, how they help people in crisis, and how the foodbank has created an extended support service through their education programmes, including cookery lessons and IT support to enable users to apply for jobs or update their CV”.

SDS are looking forward to supporting the foodbank on a more regular basis both in the distribution centre and supporting users at Maths workshops.
