Opportunities Cornwall Careers Event

Recently, Jorden and Sergio attended the Opportunities Cornwall Careers Event organised by Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Careers Hub. 

The Hub aim to help transform careers education around the county by linking education with business and helping secondary schools and colleges achieve the Gatsby Benchmarks of world class careers guidance.

Sergio and Jorden delivered a number of presentations to Year 10 students about their career paths, their day-to-day life as an engineer and the opportunities open to them. They also advised the students on the available routes into engineering.

David Sellars, Enterprise Coordinator at the Careers Hub commented: Ninety students have completed the on-line survey and the vast majority were very positive about the event – eighty percent felt the day was ‘very helpful’. These employer encounter events can only take place if businesses and organisations give up the time and make the commitment to interacting and working with students.
