Record breaking charity Pub Quiz for SDS
25th Feb, 2019
We held our 5th annual SDS Charity Pub Quiz at a new venue, the Walkabout in Plymouth last month, raising money for Shekinah Mission.
Shekinah provides opportunities for people in recovery or seeking recovery. This may include recovery from homelessness, drug and alcohol issues, offending behaviours or mental ill health. We welcomed John Hamblin, Soo Brizell and volunteers from the charity who also took part in the quiz.
The evening was well attended with 29 teams, a record amount for the quiz from the engineering and architecture industry taking part. The questions were a mix of the brain teasing and the ridiculous, with NG Bailey becoming Champions, LHC taking second place this year and QSPM in third. The ‘Golden Toilet’ went to team Interserve/Studio Agora. Well done to all the teams!
An impressive table of raffle prizes helped to fill the collection buckets, with donated gifts of champagne and whisky to golf days, restaurant vouchers, Amazon Echos and an Nespresso to name a few.
The amount raised for Shekinah Mission is £5,000!
We sincerely hope this will help them to continue their fantastic work within the local area, providing support and financial aid across the city.
A huge thank you to Trevor Burrows for donating his great photographic skills for the evening.
