SDS Plymouth University Graduates return to conduct workshops
4th May, 2017
Michael Elliott and Richard Milton, both Mechanical Engineering Masters Graduates from Plymouth University, returned to the University recently to conduct Building Services Workshops with final year MEng Interdisciplinary Design Project students.
By addressing the principles of Building Services and suggesting possible design solutions with each group, tailored to the initial building designs that the students had produced for their projects. Michael and Richard developed a perfect framework for the students to incorporate building services into their designs.
They also showed the students some examples of design drawings to illustrate how systems are documented. Further support was provided in the form of the SDS Building Services Introduction booklet, which adds significantly to other information available to the students.
Module leader, Professor Geoff Skates, said: “It was very special that two previous graduates from our programme were so pro-active in setting this up and spending the time to help our students in such a thorough, knowledgeable, and professional manner – an absolutely excellent outcome all round.”
He added: “Thanks also to Services Design Solution, who have regularly provided placement and graduate employment to our students, for supporting and encouraging Michael and Richard in conducting these extremely successful workshops – an experience we are very keen to repeat next year”.
