Shaun and Mark become STEM Ambassadors
23rd Aug, 2017
SDS Director Shaun Hoppins and Associate Director Mark Plant have joined more than 34,000 volunteers on the UK’s largest STEM related volunteer programme, giving up their time to inspire young people in all aspects of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).
STEM Ambassadors are an important free of charge resource for teachers and others engaging with young people inside and outside of the classroom, offering advice and skills from people in all disciplines and backgrounds including designers, architects, scientists and in the case of SDS, engineers.
Their aim is to ensure that schools and colleges, as well as community youth groups, are able to access STEM Ambassador support to encourage and involve young people into STEM subjects and then progress into related careers.
Shaun and Mark are looking forward to providing technical advice, supporting lessons, giving careers talks and helping schools make connections with employers and industry resources, among their volunteer duties given their Ambassador roles.
