Volunteering at Plymouth Soup Run

30th Sep, 2021

Our mission at SDS is heartily focussed on commitment to the environment and to our community; sustaining and enriching the livelihoods and wellbeing of those who make up our region. Not only does 1% of our annual turnover filter into local communities through charitable donations and resources, but our staff are driven to regularly dedicate their time too.

One evening last week, three members from our Plymouth office volunteered at the Plymouth Soup Run to pack and distribute food, toiletries and sleeping bag care packages to the homeless. Led by members from Obedair, the team served 65 people and gathered their details to pass onto the PATH Rough Sleepers Team and Shekinah.

The Soup Run is a community service providing free food and hot drinks to the local homeless, hungry and vulnerable people on our streets every day of the year. Earlier in the year, we donated £150 worth of sun cream during the summer months through the Arc (Aid and Redistribution Centre) storage warehouse, where our staff also volunteered to sort clothes this month.
