YMCA Plymouth’s Regeneration Project

9th Jul, 2021

Services Design Solution are pleased to have offered key support in propelling the transformation of YMCA Plymouth’s regeneration project through the Devon & Plymouth Chamber of Commerce’s Peer-to-Peer Network Programme; a mentoring programme connecting business leaders and lending vital support through uncertain times.

The YMCA development is on track to revitalise its sports and activity centre on Honicknowle Lane. The centre, formerly known as the Kitto Centre, was built in 1974 and hasn’t undergone any major improvement works until this year, as it sees the installation of a new spin studio, gym and modernised facilities.

Our Managing Director, Shaun Hoppins, was delighted to work with YMCA as mentors on the programme and support the development of the centre and the organisation. In recognising the importance of such a project, SDS supplied free mechanical and engineering consultancy work, usually costing around £6,000.

Tom Lavis, CEO of YMCA Plymouth, said: ‘”As a local charity going through a challenging but exciting time, we are extremely grateful for the support we’ve received from Shaun and SDS.

“Their knowledge and experience have helped us to move our project forward while saving a considerable sum of money at the same time. We are incredibly thankful to them as well as the Chamber for providing the scheme that put us together.”

As a local Plymouth-based SME, SDS are committed to supporting local charities across the South West. The mentoring programme posed an opportunity to listen and act upon YMCA’s exciting plans. We were delighted to lend a hand in helping their aspirations become a tangible reality.

We look forward to the official opening and celebrating collaborative business.
