Project Description

A £3m design of a new six-classroom single storey extension for Begbrook Primary Academy, a large suburban school with 493 children aged 3 – 11 on roll

The project incorporates additional multi use spaces that can be utilised as additional classrooms

Project Involvement

Detailed design and thermal modelling of the extension

The project incorporates PV panels to achieve 20% reduction of CO2 emissions from renewable energy

The classrooms are naturally ventilated utilising manual controls with high and low level cross ventilation

Underfloor heating, from a new gas fired boiler, serves the building

The building benefits from low energy LED and fluorescent lighting

The lighting system is enhanced with automatic controls, to turn lights off in unoccupied areas. The system previews and provides automatic dimming to spaces with high levels of
natural daylight
