Project Description

A £5m refurbishment of this dilapidated Grade II listed 19th century school in Bristol

The 3900m2 building, over two floors, was renovated by Skanska under a design and build contract with Bristol City Council under the Bristol Schools LEP framework

The project was for the change of use from a senior school to a dual teaching establishment, serving the needs of 2-form entry primary school and delivering teaching for special needs (BHES).

The dilapidated Grade II listed building successfully brought into the 21st century, with M&E services that helped achieve a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating

Project Involvement

Our commission was for the design of new M&E services to comply with current legislations of Bristol City Council and the Bristol Hospital Education Service (BHES)

The heating type preferred was gas fired condensing boilers feeding radiators (LST) and fan convectors

Naturally ventilated with mechanical ventilation in certain areas. Cooling was provided to the communications room only

Conventional modular lighting was designed with daylight regulating.

Project Benefits

The project achieved a ‘Very Good’ BREEAM rating

Renewable technology was used with the roof ‘U’ value increased by insulation
