Pennycross Primary School

Project Description

Pennycross Primary School is made up of buildings dating from 1953 and temporary huts located close to the main building. It occupies a corner site creating steps within the school site with playgrounds cascading down to the north

Two storey extension of the current Junior wing was constructed to provide 8 new classrooms, four to each floor, with associated stores, toilets and group rooms

The main dining halls are positioned in the centre. The Junior wing to the east and Reception and Infants to the west and the north. There is an adventure play area, a playing field and small car park at the front, with the Reception being accessed from Arden Grove.

Extension of existing Primary School to enhance the pupils learning environment

Project Involvement

Provision of a Stage 4a Mechanical and Electrical detailed design and specification for the extension to the existing school

Production of Schedules, 2D detailed layout drawings, schematic arrangements and performance specification

Working with Plymouth City Council to comply with their requirements and provide Building Services that are easy to control, that offer reliability and ease of maintenance

Ongoing support during the installation period ensuring clients expectations were met.

Project Benefits

The extension has enabled relocation of a classroom, a modification of a new Staff Room and reconfiguration of offices to provide bigger office space, a dedicated First Aid / Sick Room and additional parking

It has provided enough space and new facilities for all 315 pupils after new and improved housing developments were invested in the area

Raised the growing community profile which will help to invest and encourage families to the area.
