Project Description

SDS were involved with delivering the detailed Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health design to RIBA Stage 4; with support from our in house Buildings Physics Engineers, providing thermal and compliance modelling for both as designed and as built building control submissions

The £20m development is phase 2 of the Redcliff Quarter complex and comprises of 120 high end apartments located within three 7-storey residential towers situated above retail units and restaurants. The ground floor units surround a new pedestrianised piazza for outdoor dining and socialising

Situated in the centre of Bristol, the scheme benefits from centralised district heating infrastructure and solar photovoltaic panels; providing a low energy and low carbon built environment, and setting a precendence for energy sustainable design by exceeding the targets of local council requirements.

Project Involvement

SDS were involved in the Design and Specification of the Mechanical and Electical services to a value of £146k

Full and complete building engineering services design from concept through to technical design proposals, with production of specification, schedules, 2D detailed design layout drawings, schematic arrangements and 3D model

Creating a homely feel whilst accommodating complex engineering systems, requiring a high degree of co-ordination and creativity in concealing the services, whilst maintaining suitable means of access for maintenance

Thermal overheating analysis to develop ventilation strategies for the space.
