£3m refurbishment and renovation of the Grade II listed hall in Penzance, working with architects Poynton Bradbury and contractor Midas
The building houses the town’s stage, performance area, council offices, community facilities and a new public library
SDS were appointed by Cornwall Council from concept through to final commissioning
Initially we were appointed to carry out the condition survey of the existing services
The report commented on the existing systems and made recommendations relating to the mechanical and electrical engineering services
Complete detailed design of all mechanical & electrical engineering services
Undertook a contractor monitoring service (Clerk of Works) during the construction through to completion.
New hub for Cornwall Council staff The internal services were carefully designed within the severe constraints of its historic features
Produced an energy efficient LED lighting scheme, tailored for the new use of the building, whilst being sensitive to the internal and external architecture
Following the report we undertook the complete replacement of the heating and ventilation system xxx installed within the building
Introduction of life safety systems including a fire lift and generator
Extensive refurbishment of the main hall, including a new multiscene lighting system for performances, exhibitions and festivals.
