St Michael’s Mount, National Trust

Project Description

SDS have been incumbant design engineers for in excess of 10 years, within this period we have undertaken many planned and reactive projects. Carrying out detailed design work to proposed new visitors centre and administration facility in the Old Barge House and most recently the replacement of the boiler plant

Technical advice is provided on an ad hoc basis to the estate management team ensuring the ongoing condition of this historic landmark development.

St Michael’s Mount Estate is situated on a tidal island located 366 metres off the Mount’s Bay Coast of Cornwall

Project Involvement

SDS have been appointed by the Caretaking organisation to provide full engineering services support to the ongoing development and maintenance

We are the retained M&E Consultant providing advice, feasibility reports, design services for Grade 1 Castle and Village buildings for the National Trust.

Surveyed existing services to avoid disruption of existing unforeseen services

Careful detailed design and installation to ensure no damage to building fabric of historic significance occurred

Consideration was given to the difficulties associated with space and access for services

Monitoring of the contractors activities to ensure the installation meets with the design intent.
