Services Design Solution (SDS) have been contracted by Kier Construction and the client NHS Trust to provide design services from feasibility through to detailed design. The Trust required the urgent adaption and modification of a live Emergency Department to relieve the urgent pressures placed on them by the winter flu season
Works consisted of the installation of six in number Majors bays, one in number paediatrics bay and one in number combined Resuscitation / isolation facility along with some additional staff accommodation
Undertook non-intrusive visual surveys of the existing services in and around and on the roof of the existing Emergency Department and had oversight during the construction phase of the project, working with the contracting team to ensure successful delivery within the restricted timeframe.
Phased works to be undertaken, including refurbishment works to the entire Emergency Department
Completed load assessments, undertook infrastructure review and identify site diversions to accommodate the works
Complete mechanical, electrical and public health report of all existing services
Provided design support through the construction phase including site attendance. This was provided at short notice to provide a quick and reactive resolution when issues were presented as existing services were exposed.
Pro-active advice on the engineering requirements of the Health Technical Memorandum and Health Building Notes including design support during the construction phase
Provided design options to achieve optimal programme delivery and maximise the advantage to the Trust with the plant and equipment available within the period
Extensive knowledge of site from previous projects with Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.
