Project Description

New £50m pavilion and redevelopment of the site Mechanical and electrical

Services included:

  • Electrical high voltage cabling and package sub-station
  • Drainage storage system with pumped discharge to land based sewage system

Fire Alarm to L1 design category, complete with audible speech and phased evacuation strategy through cause and effect matrix

Boosted gas and water services to overcome distance between shore end and pavilion

Large sub-main supplies and controls to rides and attractions

Standby diesel generator and UPS for essential life systems

Compressed air system for operation of the rides and attractions

Architectural feature and stage lighting, complete with digital head-end PC providing complex lighting controls for management and energy saving.

The Grand Pier project, the result of a competition winning design, was a rebuild of the previous 1903 Grade II listed pier virtually destroyed by fire in 2008

Project Involvement

SDS were employed to verify that the building services (mechanical and electrical) designs satisfied and included for all the client and end user requirements and that the design complied with all current legislations, standards and building control requirements.
