Schiller Hall – Buckfast Abbey
The refurbishment breathed new life into Buckfast Abbey’s historic setting, creating a dynamic, multi-purpose venue for education, art, and performance. SDS’s thoughtful engineering design ensured a comfortable, sustainable environment for all users.
SDS were instructed to provide full mechanical and electrical design services for the refurbishment and extension of the conference facilities at Buckfast Abbey. The existing building had suffered from years of limited maintenance, prompting a complete transformation to create a flexible, modern space suitable for conferences, exhibitions, performances, and educational events. The design incorporated stylish, energy-efficient building services and a new photovoltaic installation, ensuring improved sustainability and long-term operational performance. SDS worked closely with the architect to integrate services seamlessly within the new architectural and structural design.
