Tinside Lido
Delivering coordinated MEP design for the sensitive refurbishment of a listed leisure building Tinside Lido, Bristol
SDS were appointed to deliver RIBA Stage 4 Technical Design and Stage 5 Construction services for the refurbishment of Tinside Lido, a constrained and sensitive listed building. The project involved refurbishment works across two buildings, delivered within a restricted site environment where minimising visual and fabric impact was a key driver. Working alongside multiple stakeholders and within an evolving design environment, SDS provided full MEP design and construction phase support to enable coordinated delivery while respecting the heritage constraints of the site.
Involvement
- Delivered full MEP design (Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health) across RIBA Stages 4 and 5
- Provided project management and engineering support through technical design and construction
- Developed coordinated MEP solutions for both buildings within a listed and constrained site environment
- Designed a shared fire alarm and extract duct strategy to minimise impact on the external facade
- Maintained 3D coordination to manage interfaces and resolve clashes during construction
Benefits delivered
- Minimised impact on the listed building fabric through carefully coordinated and shared service strategies
- Reduced coordination risk by maintaining 3D integration where possible during construction
- Enabled practical delivery within a constrained and sensitive site environment
- Supported construction progress through clear technical leadership and construction phase coordination
