SECTION 38 STREET LIGHTING
Development of 450 new dwellings after demolition of existing buildings and structures on what is known as Phase 1 of Hunters Moon in Chippenham, Wiltshire.
Designed to work within the constraints of the site to create a sustainable development.
A mix of properties available including bungalows, flats, detached houses and 1, 2, 3 and 4 bed options.
Planning for Hunters Moon adhered to the Wiltshire Council Core Strategy to accommodate a balanced, assorted community with clear conservation values in place, protecting the natural environment.
Aimed to improve opportunities for relocation within Chippenham and the prospect of new job creation.
Involvement
- Undertook Section 38 Street Lighting calculations and design for the residential roads within Hunters Moon.
- Liaised with the local authority to determine requirements for the area and established our layout plan accordingly.
- Determined the lighting design parameters for the roads, specifying luminaire types and locations.
- The site layout demonstrates illuminance levels across the proposed development, with light spill illustrated through isolines on the drawing.

- The new residential road is to be adopted by the local authority.
- Achieved compliant street lighting design in accordance with the local authority and British Standards for the proposed residential road.
- Located street columns and added light-back shields where necessary to minimise the light trespass into proposed dwelling windows.
- Minimised the need to overlight the area, reducing energy consumption.
