Intercity Place

Project Description

Major refurbishment of Intercity Place, beside Plymouth Railway Station, to create flexible teaching spaces for the University of Plymouth’s School of Health Professionals. The project incorporated research spaces and classrooms for specialist teaching and simulated nursing.

The University’s aspirations are to achieve a highly sustainable, low-carbon building accredited with SKA Gold. SDS developed sustainable solutions for its building services, working closely with the client and key energy stakeholders including local planning consultees.

A future 5G district heating network connection was designed into the scheme. Additional solutions for the integration of photovoltaics were presented whilst being cognisant of the train station environment, considering glare, access and maintenance.
