Southend Victoria Maintenance Depot
SDS provided detailed GRIP 5 design services for a new modular warehouse, delivering efficient, safe, and coordinated electrical and heating systems within a highly constrained live site.
SDS was appointed to deliver the detailed design to GRIP Stage 5 for a new modular warehouse building, covering the electrical infrastructure, fire alarm, small power, lighting, and space heating systems. The scope also included external lighting design for footpaths, roadways, canopies, and emergency escape routes to ensure the safe movement of sanding carts and personnel.
Regular design team coordination meetings brought together multiple disciplines, including architectural, structural, civil, earthing, and contractor representatives, ensuring an integrated and efficient design process.
The project presented several site constraints, including limited spatial allowances, existing roadways, and close proximity to live railway lines, all of which required careful coordination and innovative engineering solutions.
