A £15m beachfront development at the Carbis Bay Hotel in St Ives

The facility includes eight new beach front apartments and a multi-purpose building, incorporating a new kitchen for the hotel complex, bedrooms, multi-function suite, fish and chip shop, café, takeaway and shop

The buildings are designed to be sustainable but also dynamic and responsive to its beautiful and unique beachside location, a sensitive area of outstanding beauty

Designed internally to offer a high level of comforts with the latest technology being introduced to provide a 6* guest experience.

Project Involvement

SDS carried out the full mechanical and electrical design of the buildings

New site-wide infrastructure to allow rationalisation of the existing infrastructure

The design allowed integration of a site-wide district heating main, utility upgrades to include a new WPD substation and CHP plant to link the estate to a single supply

Provided communal energy centres with district heating systems. The energy centres were designed as modular units to maximise efficiency on part load performance and allow for future site expansion. Cascade modulating control systems, using heat load control to optimise efficiency were adopted with variable demand driven pumps.
